About KFES
Richard Kennell founded KFES Ltd in July 2006.
Having previously taught in secondary schools for 15 years and having held senior management positions in three schools he founded the company to develop his educational philosophy and ideas in a range of ways.
The company's focus and expertise lies primarily in the area of 14-19 education. The work that the company does on this agenda includes the design and deloivery of programmes for young people seeking education or employment, coordination of a 14-19 consortium in Oxfordshire to consultancy for the Local Authority in areas such as curriculum audit, diploma planning and employer engagement.
KFES Ltd also delivered the online IAG tools in Oxfordshire. The Area Prospectus went live in June 2007 and was set up by the company. e now maintain and develop it. We also introduce Individual learning Plans into Oxfordshire schools - we are have worked with 31 of the secondary schools and 2 of the FE colleges on this.
From September 2008 KFES Ltd introduced a post 16 common application process to 9 Oxfordshire schools and 1 FE college. This trial is due to end in March 2009.
KFES Ltd is also the main organisation involved in the TDA programme "The Ethos Project" www.theethosproject.co.uk. Working with a range of other organisations The Ethos Project aims to reintroduce character education as an explicit part of the curriculum in schools. The project has worked with schools in Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Wiltshire and Somerset and has worked with colleagues to develop school ethos, vertical tutor programmes, student voice programmes and more.
KFES Ltd are currently working on:
Engagement Programmes for young people seeking work or learning opportunities
We are currently running our second year of engagement programmes. We work with young people to help them develop the skills and interests to become successful in their chosen sphere. Our flagship programme "Need a DIrection" worked with 79 young people in 2010/11 and successfully placed 55 of them before or at the ned of the programme.
Behaviours, Attitudes, Mindsets (BAM)- with Oxfordshire Skills Board
Working across sectors, with business, adult learners, schools and colleges this project seeks to develop ways to develop emotional intelligence. In response to the Oxfordshire Skills Survey, the BAM project seeks to develop self awareness, self management, social awareness and relationship management.
The National Teacher Centre
The National Teacher Centre is a new organisation dedicated to finding a better way to teach young people. Focused on our enablement model, programmes seek to provide educational professionals with the tools they need to effect deep and sustained learning in young people.
Partnership Work
KFES Ltd believes strongly in the power of partnership. Richard represents the Thames Valley Training Providers on the Oxfordshire Skills Board, chairs the network of Oxfordshire's alternative providers and works with the business community on the Opportunities to Inspire initiative.
